I can't remember the order, but I know I had Drafting (maybe two 
years???); a mechanics class, where we took apart a lawn mower engine 
and rebuilt it (ho humm... I'd been doing that at home for just about 
as long as I could hold a wrench); Beginning Metals, where we built a 
lantern; Basic Woodworking, all hand tools all the time -- first 
project was a tool tote.  If you look at it, you can kind of tell 
what order I dimensioned the boards in -- I got much better, really 
fast...  When I brought it home, my dad promptly adopted it to use 
for his basic mechanics tools.  When he passed 13 years ago, I 
reclaimed it and its sitting in the shop in the basement.  Then 
Advanced Woodshop where my project was a chess board.  My teacher was 
so proud that one of his students has made it that I heard he took it 
to the teachers lounge to show it off.

After that, I changed schools and had an opportunity to take 
photography and printing, so I switched.  I really wish I could have 
taken more metal work, especially lathe operation.  I can use my 
dad's and have made things on it, but it's a slow learning curve.
