Fellow Galoots I decided that I wanted some way to sign my work since some of it really isn't bad now. What I want to do is make something which will allow me to cast a small disk of silver or pewter say about the size of a dime and either leave an impression in it as part of the casting process or leave it smooth and then i'd stamp it with a stamp that I also don't have. I would then drill a shallow hole and inlay this disk into my work. Now I know there is at least one professional jeweller on the list not to mention people who just know stuff so I was hoping for a feasibility study here... So 1) how easy is it to make a mould that would allow me to pour a disk of silver or pewter and could be used multiple times? What would I make it from? I assume i'd start with some wax and carve it in to that first... any help with the process would be much appreciated. or 2) How do I go about making a name/logo stamp? What material to use? Heat treatment? How to form? etc... Would it be OK for stamping wood and brass as well as softer metals? Thanks John in very sunny NH but we still have a very small pile of snow in the woods on our property... may be gone by tomorrow! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ | |||
