149805 makita@p... Sep-13-2005 Any luck with japanning over old japanning?

Hello everyone
James watts here

I was wondering if anyone has had any luck applying Gustafson japanning over
the original stanley japanning on a plane. If someone has could you give me
instructions on how to do it. I have read were other people have applied new
japanning over the original japanning with poor results. I didn't know if
anyone had tried this with Gustafson japanning or not. What I have read they
say the new japanning bubbles the old japanning off. Thank's for any help
