149804 Jim Erdman <jlerdman@y...> Sep-13-2005 Tool sale in Minneapolis
Hello Galoots,
I got a post card in the mail a few days ago about a
Tool Sale at Beaumont's Quality Tools, 3539 West 44th
Stree, Minneapolis. It is scheduled for Saturday
(Sept 17) 10AM to 2PM. No need to show up before noon
of course <G>. I haven't gone for a few years, and I
may not make it this Saturday either (too many
projects around the house that need to be done before
snow falls, and of course I have been putting them off
all summer, when the evenings are long and the weather
was warm and dry).
It has generally been attended by a number of sellers
with almost any kind of tool for sale, and quite a few
buyers. There is a bakery/coffee shop down the block,
if I recall correctly, that was a nice place to meet a
bit before the sale started.

Hope that some of the Minnesota Galoots will be able
to make it to the sale, and perhaps give us a report afterwards.

Jim Erdman (in Menomonie, WI)

I was there for the first hour of this. Started slow, with no
crowd waiting for the starting gun. Less sellers than in times
past, though I missed the spring sale so I can't compare it to that.
By the time I left there were a lot more people there, but I'd got
all the good stuff by then. B^)
Didn't get a lot of woodworking stuff. An old froe and #40 scrub plane
with a replaced screw and rather mangy wood were all that tickled my
fancy in that department. Did get a number of jewelry related items
including a ring stretcher that Hans has brought to the last couple of
MWTCA meets. He was willing to deal by now. B^) Grabbed a couple of
crucibles just before former list member Bruce VanSlone did. All in
all it was worth the drive and time spent there, at least for me.
