Ooh! Ooh! I know, I know?
By the amount of fleam on the bezel!

I'm sure Ironmonger or Saddam Leach or dozens of galoots could give
you the answer using the correct terms, but they make my head spin.
In my simple minded view, the teeth on a rip saw are like itty
bitty chisels.

the saw is sharpened with the file held 90 deg to the direction of the
saw blade. With a cross cut saw the file is held at an angle to the
direction of the blade (60 deg?) so each tooth gets a bezel/bevel
on it and the tooth comes to a point

 Bevel 	->   //
 	    //
These bevels alternate on different sides of the saw.
The teeth are more like equilateral triangles and not like right triangles
on the rip saw.

Hope this is understandable. Anyway the experts can describe it
correctly.

Carl
