You, sir, are the proud owner of a ring stand clamp, used to connect
various rods and supports at right angles to a vertical (and hopefully
stable) iron rod, in the pursuit of heating substances in a chemistry
lab.

This device will prove to be indispensably vital in a future sharpening
jig, or other big important project.  Cherish it!
