Steve,
The EAIA DAT doesn't give a location or dates for this maker, noting
that W. & C. Wynn made "Augers, Dividers, Household Tools, Leather Tools,
Pliers and Wrenches." While they supposedly made a patent wrench, Cope's
wrench book doesn't list them. The DAT listing (based on 2 tools seen and 5
secondary sources) further suggests that an auger reported may have been a
cheese tester; and that the company apparently made shoe pliers and lasts,
as well as bed keys.

    Best regards,
    Sandy

According to Ken Roberts' "List of 19th Century Birmingham
Brace & Bit Makers," (in _Some 19th Century English Woodworking
Tools_), the William & Cornelius Wynn firm was in business from
1816 to 1880. Robert's list was compiled from Birmingham
Directories.

I bought what I think is a wheelwright's brace last week. Through the rust I
can make out the following mark:

W&C.WYNN

The initial W may be a M.

Anyone know of this maker?
