G'day Galoots, I've been lurking over the other side of the pond here for some time and promising I will delurk and say hello for awhile now. It's just that I can't keep up with the traffic. By the time I get to work, scan my (work related) mail and respond to things which must be done, I've barely time to check the table of content of the oldtool digests before I need to be head down, tail up getting on with something I'll get paid for. It's not so much the you're a garrulous mob, it's more that I can't walk and chew gum at the same time (Don't touch that baccy stuff. Actually I did once, one of the ones which comes in a red and white pack - chewed it and swallowed it whole, felt like I had a head and no body for a week!). Anyway keeping up with the real content would'nt leave me any time for paid employment, so I dip in know and again and pick up a little useful info and enjoy the banter. I also still check rec.norm now and again to see what record number of replies Mr Bennett et al are up to, but it's much friendlier over here. For those of you who remember I'm the one a year or two ago who wrote on rec.norm about putting a #50 to work. I was building a vanity for the new bathroom we had put in to our money pit. Well the money pit continues. I have just finished laying 500 sq ft of 2nd hand t&g flooring in our living room. Started out to cut the planks to size with a nice sharp back saw, but I'm not to proud to admit I soon gave up in favour of my trusty 7 1/4" skill saw with high tech cross cutting box made out of packing crate (well almost - it was a two foot offcut of 3x10 with a bit of flooring nailed at right angles for the fence). All nailed by hand though in true neander style. The finishers come in next Monday.
