Greetings Galoots, Mr. Steve's gentle prodding under the porch has moved a few of us out into the daylight... My name is Dan D'Ercole, I'm 50 years old and live in the Old Tool Heaven area of South Eastern Pennsylvania. Red Lion , PA to be exact. I have spent most of my life working with or on Old Tools and equipment " Sometimes not by choice but by necessity " I make my living as a field instrumentation service tech for a local valve , instrument & controls company. I'm an amateur blacksmith, woodworker , woodcarver and in the past a longrifle smith. All done as traditionally as practical. I like to think of myself as more of an old tool user but I must admit I accumulate more than I can ever use. But that's a good thing........ right ! I have had the privilege of meeting the list's own Mr. George Langford at Shupps Grove and corresponding with a few of you off list. This is my first response to the list. I have been lurking since January of 2003 and have yet to post a Bio. For this I apologize.... I'm not much of a wordsmith and don't like to rush things... For the slow heads on the list this means that " I'm a slow head too " ! I have learned that growing old gives one a grand accumulation of practical knowledge through experience. I have also learned that gaining this experience can at times be painful , expensive and even embarrassing ! My thanks to the list for sharing their knowledge and sparing me from some of the pain and unpleasantries that would have went along with it by learning on my own. Best, Dan On the hill in Red Lion, PA PS: Steve...........Kokomo really isn't that island in the Beach Boys song that everyone wants to go to ? <BG> ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Mysterious Strangers From: "Steve from Kokomo" <stjones@k...> Date: Thu, 27 Nov 2003 08:07:33 -0500 (EST) X-Message-Number: 11 Fellow porchdwellers; In keeping with the porch metaphor, we seem to have a growing number of strangers hiding in the shadows, unwilling to introduce themeselves. <SNIP> Just my 2 cents' worth; thanks for listening. -- Steve - another Kokomo galoot feeling grumpy this morning and assuming that by now everyone knows Kokomo is in Indiana and my last name is Jones - bio posted 10/10/1998 | |||
