110379 "Dan" <hikerdaddy@t...> Oct-05-2002 My Bio
Hello Everyone,

I have been doing alot of listening on the porch so far. My name is Dan
Clermont and I live just outside of Vancouver Canada (3 blocks to be
exact). I am married to a lovely lady who goes by the name of Tracey and
we have a 21 month old daughter who is alot of fun and understands alot
about where the shaving that fall on the floor go. She is a big help. I
work in the Film and Television Industry which keeps me working shifts. So
when I am on nights I spend alot of time fixing up the house or in my
workshop.

I never had any interest in woodworking until we purchased our home 3
years ago. It started out with alot of power tools. In the house I rent
out twi suites and they both share a wall with the shop. I wasn't having
fun with the power tools because I was always bothering someone. Then came
my first and only modern plane, it was a Record #5 (I liked the blue
paint) purchased from the local Lee Valley. I then too some lessons on
sharpening and the rest was history. I don't have any hair on my fore arms
and am proud of it. My wife laughs everytime I come in the house with a
newly sharpened blade. Since the Record #5 I have come across someone who
is selling off his collection and I have been purchasing some of his old
Baoley's, Bedrocks and chisels. I don't have much time for garage sales
and never really found anything interesting at them.

My interests are furniture with an emphasis on joinery and detail. I have
just finished my workbench and am quite pround of it. I hope to post
pictures after the weekend. I flattened it twice. The first time was with
a $5 and I was not happy with the results so I had it drum sanded at a
local furniture shop and whenI got home I realized the middle was sagging
about 1/32 so I bought a #7 of EBay and went to it. It is now dead flat.

Next I am building my tool box and hope to have it finished in a month or
so.

Thanks for reading my Bio,
Dan
